Temp-to-Perm Opportunity | SEN Setting

Tradewind Recruitment is currently seeking a patient, resilient and enthusiastic SEN Teaching Assistant to support pupils with additional needs in Northampton.

This is a fantastic opportunity for someone who is passionate about helping young people overcome barriers to education, build positive relationships and re-engage with learning. The role will involve supporting pupils with autism, ASD and difficulties engaging with school, helping them develop confidence, independence and a more positive approach to education.

The position is offered on a temp-to-perm basis, giving you the opportunity to work through Tradewind Recruitment before potentially moving into a permanent position with the setting.

As an SEN Teaching Assistant, you will:

• Support pupils with autism and other additional needs, adapting your approach to suit individual learning styles and abilities.

• Encourage pupils who may be disengaged from education to participate in learning and develop positive routines.

• Build trusting relationships with pupils, providing consistent encouragement and emotional support.

• Support positive behaviour and help pupils manage challenges that may affect their engagement with education.

• Work alongside teaching staff to create a supportive and inclusive learning environment.

• Help pupils develop their confidence, social skills and independence.

As part of the permanent position, there may also be occasional opportunities to provide 1:1 support outside the school setting, such as meeting pupils in their homes or at a local library to help them access learning. This would be on an occasional basis, depending on pupils' needs.

We are looking for someone who:

• Has experience supporting children or young people, ideally within an SEN, school or alternative provision setting.

• Understands the needs of pupils with autism and other additional needs.

• Is patient, resilient and confident building relationships with pupils who may be reluctant to engage with education.

• Can use a calm, consistent and encouraging approach to support behaviour and participation.

• Is flexible and comfortable supporting learning in different environments when required.

• Is passionate about helping young people access education and reach their potential.

Experience in SEN, SEMH, youth work, mentoring, care or similar roles would be beneficial.
