North Northamptonshire Council is seeking an experienced Repairs Officer to support the delivery of a responsive repairs and maintenance service across its housing portfolio.

Working within the Repairs & Maintenance Team, you will oversee day-to-day repairs operations, supervise trades operatives and contractors, carry out pre and post inspections, and ensure works are completed safely, efficiently, and in line with statutory requirements. You will play a key role in managing performance, maintaining compliance, and delivering excellent customer service.

• Manage responsive repairs, voids, planned maintenance, and compliance-related works.
• Supervise in-house trades teams and external contractors.
• Undertake pre and post inspections and maintain accurate records.
• Prepare specifications, reports, and tender documentation.
• Monitor contractor performance, budgets, and service delivery.
• Ensure compliance with health and safety, asbestos, gas, electrical, and environmental legislation.
• Support staff management, development, and performance monitoring.

• Experience within repairs, maintenance, housing, or construction services.
• Knowledge of responsive repairs, void management, and contractor supervision.
• Understanding of health and safety legislation and compliance requirements.
• Experience managing operational teams and workloads.
• Strong communication, organisational, and IT skills.
• Full UK driving licence and access to a vehicle.

• Local authority or social housing experience.
• Experience with disrepair claims and contract management.
• Budget management experience.
• Technical qualifications related to building maintenance, gas, electrical, or asbestos works.
