CARPENTER
Location: Milton Keynes
Salary: £36,750 – £39,990 per year, depending on experience
Shift Uplift: 12.5% (£41,343 – £44,988)
Shift Pattern: 6:00am – 2:00pm / 2:00pm – 10:00pm

A fantastic opportunity has arisen for an experienced Carpenter to transfer their skills into the rail industry, working as part of a highly skilled engineering team carrying out the complete overhaul of passenger trains.
This is an excellent opportunity for someone with a background in carpentry, interior fit-out, manufacturing, vehicle building or a similar environment to develop their career within the rail sector.
Key Responsibilities

• Carry out the assembly and fitting of components to rail vehicles.
• Install and fit passenger interiors, flooring, seating, panels and other passenger comfort and safety equipment.
• Complete carpentry and interior fit-out work to a high standard.
• Work from engineering drawings, specifications and work instructions.
• Use a range of hand and power tools safely and effectively.
• Ensure all work is completed accurately and to the required quality standards.
• Work both independently and as part of a wider engineering team.

The Ideal CandidateYou will have previous experience as a Carpenter, ideally within an interior fit-out, manufacturing, vehicle building or similar environment.
Experience within the following areas would also be considered:

• Carpentry and interior fit-out
• Joinery
• Vehicle building or coach building
• Manufacturing or assembly
• Kitchen fitting
• Shop fitting or commercial fit-out

You will also have:

• Experience using hand and power tools.
• The ability to read and work from engineering drawings or detailed instructions.
• Excellent attention to detail and pride in producing a high-quality finish.
• The ability to work independently and as part of a team.
• Flexibility and confidence working rotating shifts, including earlies and lates.

Essential Criteria

• Minimum Level 2 qualification in Carpentry or a relevant discipline.
• Full UK driving licence.
• Ability to pass a medical and drug & alcohol screening.
